Transformer Scandal: Osun Monarch Dethrones High Chief

The Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, has removed High Chief Busuyi Gbadamosi from his position as the Oba Odo of Ilesa with  immediate effect.

This decision follows allegations of theft of two electricity transformers belonging to the Araromi community in Ilesa.

According to a petition submitted to the Owa's Panel on Conduct, Chieftaincy Matters, and Boundary Disputes, Gbadamosi is accused of unlawfully taking possession of the transformers procured for the community.

Despite being issued a one-week ultimatum to return the equipment, Gbadamosi failed to comply, prompting Oba Haastrup to initiate disciplinary proceedings.

A video recording obtained by reporters shows the monarch directing Gbadamosi to produce the missing transformers.

While Gbadamosi has denied the allegations, claiming his involvement was limited to facilitating repairs, his failure to return the equipment led to his detention by the police.

Gbadamosi's removal as Oba Odo is pending the outcome of a thorough investigation into the matter.

The Osun State Police Command has confirmed Gbadamosi's arrest.
